ReplyDeleteNo matter what you think of the GMC's case, or of the circumstances under which it was brought, there is a very simple reason why the BMJ does not acknowledge that Brian Deer was the complainant in the case.
The reason is that he was not.
In United Kingdom jurisprudence, "complainant" is a specific legal role. It is similar to "plaintiff" in American civil cases. One does not become a complainant simply by making a complaint, any more than professing one's beliefs makes one a "professor."
